The year 5s had a spectacular time with Luke from the Skate Skool today. There are photos to come, however, in the meantime, check out the website.

We are a Year 4 class of trapeze-artists, balancing our learning. Our teacher, Miss Irvine (a bit of a clown!) helps us learn and practise new things until we don't wobble anymore. We look forward to sharing our learning journey with you.

Oral Language
We have been working on asking questions for our oral language.
We had to think about what questions we would like to ask the man in the picture.
Maths at Home
Hi Parents/Caregivers,
I have found this great link which might give you some fabulous ideas for maths activities at home.
I recommend having a look at the 'Maths at Our House' section and 'Number Knowledge Activities.' On the Number Knowledge Activities page, you can click on the domain (Number Sequence, Place Value, Number Facts) for the level your child is working at. You can look at their previous school report to find this information, although it never hurts to start with the Stage 3/4 activities to review and practice those skills before moving on.

Yes we can can
We have been learning a very nifty little number called 'Yes we can, can.'
It's pretty quick, but we are getting faster. Try it for yourself. The first video has the same music we use, the second clip is the same song, just a little different.

Monday Journal Writing
Each Monday we write a journal entry and then focus our editing lesson around it. Sometimes, some students will type thier journal entries straight onto one of our fabulous netbooks.
Below are some of the entries for this week. The students started editing them, but Miss Irvine has also done a little bit!

Last night I went to the river with my Dad, my sister and my dog. We were throwing the stick for him. He was swimming really far. Katie and I jumped on the back of the ute and we drove down the river. Archie, the dog was running after us and barking because he thought we were leaving him behind. It was really funny. It was fun.

During the weekend we had to shift all the furniture out of my house into our garage because our house is getting painted and getting fixed. It took me a long time to get all my toys and furniture out of my room. It took us all day. Then the next day we got all the shelves and book cases and things like that out of the house. It was really tiring and it was hot. I heard bang boom and all sorts of sounds as we were shifting lots of things in and out. I have to sleep in my sister’s room because my room is getting done. I felt really hot and bored. At the end of the day I had dinner and played army sets and watched TV and had a rest. Then I went to bed and fell to sleep quietly.

On Saturday I went to Indies birthday. She turned 1. She has blond hair. She can walk, and say, mum, dad and baby. She had a Pooh Bear cake. My mum made the cake. There were balloons everywhere. You could hear kids screaming and people talking, balloons popping too. I had lots of fun. I took a bite of the cake. It was yummy!

On Sunday night I watched a whole rugby game. I stayed up until 9:30. For tea we had curry. I had a onion bhaji, butter chicken, rice, and naan bread.

“Yay,” as I went in the car to go to Wainui on Saturday morning. It was a very long ride. I got bored when I was in the car. We didn’t take the boat because it was raining and windy. When we first got there we unpacked the food. I found out that there were stairs. It was cool.

“Yay Harry is coming over. He’s here.” Britten shouts, then he walks in with a huge yummy cake. Then we went outside to play with Harry. We started to play on the trampoline. We played crack the egg. Then we played tag. Then we played ball rush and then we hopped off the trampoline and Harry had to go.

Brrrm went the motor as I hopped in the soaking wet seat . Bump bump the boat went as we chugged down the river. Ekkk went the brakes as the boats pulled up on a small stony island. “What are we doing here?” I said. “Fishing,” dad replied excitedly. Dad shouted out suddenly, “I got one, I got one,” as he pulled a big slimy fish ashore. “What a whopper,” I said to dad, “well done.” Then we got in the boats and started off down the river again.
