ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Anzac Day is a day for us to remember the soldiers who went to fight in World War One. We especially remember the soldiers who died on April 25 1915 during the fighting on the beaches at Gallipolli, in Turkey.
We celebrate Anzac Day with some traditions and symbols.
Poppies - The red, or Flanders poppy was one of the first flowers to grow and bloom in the mud 'Flanders Field'
Flander Field - A famous war poem written about what happened in the Flanders region of Belgium
The Last Post - Millitary bugle call
Anzac Biscuits - A long-life biscuit that could be sent to soldiers
We enjoyed watching the ANZAC Youtubes. Is good to remember the brave young soldiers. Adele L
ReplyDeleteHi Room 9
DeleteWe have been learning about ANZAC day. We have painted Flanders Field, baked ANZAC biscuits, written cinquain poems, gone to the dawn parade, made poppies, NZ flags and written letters of thanks to the soldiers.
We liked the video because the information was rapped to us.
Thank you
