Mixed Media Art

This term we are going to be creating some mixed media art. We watched this clip to see one way of how it is done.

We talked about layering, and took a look at some of the things we could use, before we started our planning.

Do you think the prizes are expensive?

What do you notice about thier clothes?
Elise - "They are smart, fancy and sensible"

What else did you find interesting?
Jess - "The prizes were popular"

We are going to be looking at technology change. We thought of some questions we'd like to answer.
  • How do we think to change it?
  • How did it change?
  • Why didn't we leave it the way it was?
  • Why change it?
  • Who changed it?

ANZAC Day

ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Anzac Day is a day for us to remember the soldiers who went to fight in World War One. We especially remember the soldiers who died on April 25 1915 during the fighting on the beaches at Gallipolli, in Turkey.

We celebrate Anzac Day with some traditions and symbols.
Poppies - The red, or Flanders poppy was one of the first flowers to grow and bloom in the mud 'Flanders Field'
Flander Field - A famous war poem written about what happened in the Flanders region of Belgium
The Last Post - Millitary bugle call
Anzac Biscuits - A long-life biscuit that could be sent to soldiers

We are learning to use apostrophes to shorten words.

Words that are shortened are called contractions.
Some examples are: do not = don't, it is = it's and they are = they're.
An apostrophe shows where a letter or letters are missing.
